You Can Now Watch Some Netflix Shows for Free | MakeUseOf

In a bid to entice new customers to the service, Netflix has made some of its best original TV shows and films available to watch for free.

Stranger Things, Bird Box, and The Two Popes are just a few of the streaming service's exclusive programming that anyone can now watch without a Netflix account.

Historically, the only way for most of us to watch Netflix content for free was to sign up for a limited free trial. That's changed now with the introduction of Netflix's Watch Free section.

You can watch the entirety of some Netflix original films, along with the first episode of some TV shows, all for free and without an account.

The exclusives available are Stranger Things, Elite, The Boss Baby: Back in Business, Bird Box, Love is Blind, Grace and Frankie, The Two Popes, Murder Mystery, When They See Us, and Our Planet.

The same content is available globally. According to Netflix, "the selection may change from time to time". However, due to licensing restrictions, we can assume the offerings will always be one of its original productions.

This isn't the first time that Netflix has served up free tasters. Last year, the company experimented with giving away the first episode of local shows in India and Latin America.

And in April 2020, Netflix made a host of documentaries free to watch on YouTube.

While Netflix added 15.8 million new subscribers to the service in the first quarter of 2020, giving it a total of 182 million customers worldwide, it's clear the company isn't resting on its laurels.

Unfortunately, the free Netflix content isn't available on every platform. You must use a computer browser (though it won't work in Incognito mode) or an Android device. You're out of luck if you use an iOS browser.

If you are eligible, simply visit the Watch Free page and hit Watch Now to start streaming these TV shows or films immediately.

If these free samples of its original content prompt more people subscribe to Netflix, the company will consider this a success. And there are loads of reasons why you should sign up to Netflix.

Not only does Netflix boast some great original shows and films, there are no ads, you can use multiple devices, and the company supports global creators.

Snapchat Suspends Two Anonymous Messaging Apps Over Cyberbullying Claims

In light of a lawsuit that was filed earlier, two Snapchat apps, Yolo and LMK have been suspended by Snap. The apps allowed users to send anonymous messages on the platform. The Lawsuit Calls for an Immediate Ban of Yolo and LMK According to a LA Times report, the lawsuit was filed on behalf of Kristin Bride, the mother of a teen who committed suicide in 2020. The lawsuit alleges that Bride's son took his own life after being cyberbullied via Yolo and LMK. In addition to this, the lawsuit alleges that Yolo and LMK aren't doing enough to tackle cyberbullying, and have consequently violated consumer protection law as well as their own terms of service and policies. Both apps use Snap Kit, a set of tools that allows developers to directly connect to Snapchat for better integration features. Today the family of a 16-year-old Oregon boy who took his own life after being cyberbullied sued Snap and the makers of apps YOLO and LMK, alleging that the companies should be "h
